Tony Allen who turned his apartment in Leicester, England into a Star Trek spaceship is selling it on the internet after 10 years. It has no bedroom because he made that into a transporter.
Fans (called browncoats) of the cancelled TV series Firefly have been some of the most rabid fans. They raised enough interest in a show that did not even go one season that the creator of the series was able to create the movie Serenity. Now they are taking this show on the high seas with the scheduling of a 5 day cruise to Mexico. The Browncoat cruise sails on December 1, 2007, leaving from San Diego, California. (And yes, I am blogging about this because I am a browncoat).
The official cruise site says:
- Cruise destinations include Cabo San Lucas, and Ensenada, Mexico.
- Cruise will span 5 fun-filled days and 5 exciting nights.
- Aren’t cruises expensive? We chose these dates in order to keep the prices low, as you can see compared to a typical land based con. Prices start at just $570 per person for a Full Event Pass – Inside Cabin, or $370 for a Limited Event Pass – Inside Cabin.

What do you know, Adam Sandler can act. I have never been a big fan of Adam Sandler. I enjoyed him in “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer” but not in some of his other sophomoric roles. So it was a pleasant surprise when my wife and I saw “Reign Over Me” at a preview showing the week before it released. This movie has been billed as Adam Sandler’s dramatic debut. Don Cheadle carries this movie as the central character but Sandler delivers a convincing performance as a man who is left “broken” by grief. When we first meet Charlie (Sandler) he is in such bad shape that he does not recognize Alan (Cheadle) who was his college roommate. As Alan gets drawn more and more into “Charlie world” we see the building or rebuilding of a relationship that will dramatically affect both men. Two thumbs up for this superbly written and well acted movie.
“The working title of the third Stargate television series has been unveiled! The series currently exists in the form of a one-page treatment of the story and characters, with the title Stargate Universe, executive producer Robert C. Cooper told GateWorld exclusively.”
Will 3 Stargate titles be one to many? With the original series winding down (or possibly just wearing out) apparently there is a new series in the works. Don’t get me wrong I have enjoyed both Stargate and Stargate Atlantis, I just think that the original series was better before it lost Richard Dean Anderson.
“Here’s to George Baily”!, or should we say comrade Baily?
In 1947, the FBI considered this anti-cosummerist message as subsersive Communist propaganda. The FBI thought the movie smeared American values such as wealth and free enterprise while glorifying anti-American values such as the triumph of the common man.

As it is was not bad enough news that Joss Whedon has announced that there will be no more Firefly movies or TV shows, Slashdot carried this story:
“What happens when a film studio and a fanbase get into bed? Fans of Joss Whedon’s Firefly, and the movie by Universal Studios — Serenity — are not amused. After being encouraged to viral market Serenity, the studio has started legal action against fans (demanding $9000 in retroactive licensing fees in one case and demanding fan promotion stop), and going after Cafepress. The fans response? Retroactively invoice Universal for their services.”
To date the browncoats are invoicing Universal for $1.8 billion dollars for the viral marketing they created for the movie. You have to love the hutzpah.
This is a one minute snippet from The Radio Adventures of Dr FLoyd Live Show at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo in Ontario California September of 2006. This was part of the Orange County podcasters live show. I am convinced that the 2 gentlemen behind this podcast are two of the funniest men on the planet.
The Old English Comedy podcast did a funny spoof of those videos where the person has taken a picture of them self everyday for years.
